A characteristic point of loochoo lacquer is that the adhesiveness is very powerful, because the blood of a pig is used in undercoating.
When it was experimented what influence the structures of 26 kinds of organic pigment had on. films of it;
1) Organic pigments of many kinds were found to be used for loochoo lacquer, because of their vivid colours, but benzidine and hansa yellows were not applicable.
2) Light resistance of a inorganic pigment TiO
2 was very strong in paints, but in loochoo lacquer its light resistance (100 hours) was very weak.
Not only Ultraviolet rays in sunlight, but also oxygen, active hydrogen and infrared rays were found to have a great influence on light resistance.
When the ultraviolet rays was applied to films of loochoo lacquer, gloss of films vanished in hours, but films did not crack.
Following 3 types of ultraviolet rays adsorption agents were used.
1) phenyl salicylate
2) 5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzophenone
3) 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone
And phenyl salicylate had a
