This study presents the characteristics of the 3rd Period of Juvenile Delinquency which started around 1975. ‘Crime type profile’ method, which we used before, is a method using the profiles indicated by Z-score into which we change the ratio of arrestees to population. We analyze it by means of ‘general scale’ , ‘birth-year scale’ and ‘area scale’ which are made by the above method.

The analysis of the ‘general scale’ from 1975 to 1987 shows (1) the 3rd Period of Juvenile Delinquency can be divided into 4 stages; 1st stage ending 1977, 2nd stage from 1978 to 1979, 3rd stage from 1980 to 1985, 4th stage from 1986 to 1987, (2) the increase of larceny and embezzlement, especially the latter, is remarkable, (3) the slope of increase or decrease of male juvenile delinquency is steeper than that of female juvenile delinquency and the share of female juvenile delinquency increases steadily.

In the analysis of the ‘birth-year scale’ , which is the analysis of pepole who were born between 1956 and 1969, we find (1) the delinquents in the beginning of the 3rd Period of Juvenile Delinquency were born in 1956-57 and those at the peak of it were born from 1966-67 to 1971-72, (2) the crimes concerning property are increased by the delinquents from any birth-year and the crimes concerning violence are increased by those who were born in and after 1965-66, (3) the delinquents tend both to start and to end offending in their earlier days more than they did before.

Furthermore, it is shown under the ‘area scale’ that most areas have the 3rd juvenile delinquent waves, although there are a few exceptions.
