    Effective utilization of solar thermal energy is essential for reducing CO_2 emission caused by the Heating, Ventilation, and Conditioning system of a building. A solar-assisted heating and cooling system was installed in an office building in Mie prefecture in December 2009. The total floor area of the building is 2,400 m^2, and the system consists of a solar collector (110 m^2), thermal storage tank (4.9 m^3), and triple-effect absorption machine (527 kW cooling, 290 kW heating). Examination of the system behavior and performance has been conducted since January 2010. The results are summarized as follows. 1) The solar fraction is 16% during the cooling period and 8% during the heating period. 2) The gas reduction rates are 11% and 9% for the cooling and heating periods respectively. 3) The system-COP (primary energy base) for a system operated with solar thermal energy and gas is 10% higher than that for a system operated with gas only. 4) It is possible to use the collected hot water at around 65℃ as a heat source for driving the absorption chiller.

    Evaluation of a portable instrument as simple and basic research to the study of measurement of residual chlorine as a wastewater for reuse water, water temperature, to investigate the effect of ammonia concentration, considering the actual behavior of the residual chlorine concentration of wastewater. The following findings were obtained by. (1) Portable measuring residual chlorine that is released in conjunction with the company will evaluate chemicals because of the variation in measured values, while it is necessary to use compared with the official method. (2) Changes in water temperature measuring residual chlorine portable that is released in their measured values with reference to 20℃ is evaluated in conjunction with chemicals, because the low value measurements become low or high temperature, need to adjust quickly to measure the water temperature 20℃. (3) Changes in color and look after the measurement of residual chlorine in distilled water and wastewater if there is ammonia concentration, free residual chlorine in accordance with a darker color over time, and total residual chlorine in distilled water was found that the concentration changes occur in real time with

    In previous papers, we proposed a thermal environment simulation method that uses heat response. The utilization of the heat response reduces the calculation time for integrating CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis into the thermal environment simulation. The heat response is calculated under the assumption that the heat transport phenomena can be fixed on a static flow field. Therefore, there are some discussions on the calculation accuracy for simulations with airflow change. We carried out measurements using a 1/4-scale office model to check the range of applications of our method. These studies aim an integration of the comprehensive heat transport by airflow, which creates a three dimensional temperature distribution. The measurement results indicate that around 20% of change in supply airflow does not affect the comprehensive phenomena of heat transport. This explains the range of applications of our proposed method. Moreover, we proposed a correction method based on purging flow rate to increase the calculation accuracy when the supply flow rate is changed.

    The overarching objective of this study is to develop a novel decontamination system based on forced convective flow, e.g., an air shower system. In this paper (Part 2), detailed Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses of the flow field and temperature distributions around a Virtual Manikin were carried out to estimate the convective heat transfer coefficient for each human body segment under forced convective flow conditions. A total of 45 CFD analyses were carried out under boundary conditions that included changes in the air velocity, directions and turbulence intensity. In this article, we report the prediction results and simplified formulas for the mean convective heat transfer coefficient targeting the geometry of the standing adult males. In particular, these formulas for the mean convective heat transfer coefficient were approximated as a function of the average velocity and turbulent intensity were approximated by using the concept of Equivalent Steady Wind Speed (U_<eq>). The database of the mean convective heat transfer coefficient of each body segment is useful and could contribute to the design of an effective wind decontamination system.

    In recent years, the demand trend of the construction industry has beenexhibiting a bearish tendency. The purpose of this study is to conduct a positive analysis of the demand factor for whether the demand of air-conditioning machines is subject to what kind of influence in this paper. The shipment number of air-conditioning machines and the package airconditioner of individual airconditioning are made,into,an,explained,variable, The data of non-investment-in-home-building amount of money, temperature, the capability of a package airconditioner, the floor area per building, etc. were used to conduct regression analysis of an airconditioning machine and a package airconditioner and positive analysis of the demand factor of air-conditioning machines having a demand factor in the non-investment-in-home-building amount of money and the floor area per building was conducted. It was specified that the demand factor of the package airconditioners of individual airconditioning machines has a demand factor in the non-investment-in-home-building amount of money, and it was shown that the factor by which Schar is taken from the airconditioning machine to the package airconditioner is in the improvement in performance of a package airconditioner in recent year.

    The purpose of this study is to clarify the definition and concept of Net Escape Velocity (NEV), conceptually proposed by Prof. Mats Sandberg, as a new index for ventilation effectiveness in an indoor environment. The previous paper (part 1) presented the definition of NEV (the transported velocity of a contaminant for defining the convection flux and diffusion flux) on the premise of computational fluid dynamics simulations and proposed a calculation method for NEV using enclosed simple space. In addition, the relationship between NEV and the Local Purging Flow Rate (the ventilation rate for defining the averaged concentration of a domain) was presented. This paper presents the analysis results of NEV and Local Purging Flow Rate based on the flow field and diffusion field in the IEA Annex20 two-dimensional benchmark test case (three-dimensional space). The possibility of NEV as the index for evaluating the structure of a non-uniform concentration field of the contaminant is revealed.

    In subway stations, heat exhausted from the air-conditioning system for cars increases platform temperature and dust from passengers and train rails worsens air quality. In order to resolve such problems, ventilation through shafts is expected to remove hot air and dust from the platform, and the platform doors can restrain the mixing of cool air on the platform and hot air in the rail area. In this study, moving body CFD simulation is carried out to reproduce train wind and the results are compared with the experimental data obtained by Kim and Kim (2007). Then the natural ventilation through shafts is studied and the appropriate position of shafts is discussed using the results of the CFD simulation. This study also shows that the platform doors are effective in improving thermal condition on the platform.

    Many eco-friendly buildings have been constructed as one of the measures for preventing global warming. In these buildings, various elemental technologies have been installed and expected to perform their functions effectively in long-term operation. For this purpose, the maintenance conditions for these technologies are an important factor. In this study, we investigated the actual conditions and obstacles in the elemental technologies via a questionnaire and hearing survey and showed that the maintenance conditions influence the functional obstacles greatly. Next, we investigated the quantity of rainwater used in rainwater use systems and considered the relation between its utilization and its maintenance conditions in detail.
