More elementary students attend “after school care program” in Japan as the dual-income family becomes more common. We have developed an application in this research which supports the students and engaged teachers in an after school care program. The application treats data of children’s group composition with sociograms in the after school care program which are convenient than to treat commonly-used socio metric tests. The sociogram which has been proposed in this research shows sociality of a student by thinking of selected numbers of the student by other students. The purposes of this study are to develop an application by which changes in children's group structure and socialities are able to be easily observed and to assist staffs in the after school care program by the application. Our developed application has achieved to show group composition and sociality of children in the after school program and reduce daily workload of teachers by using one line daily work logs which generally sink into files contained in many document folders.

This paper clarifies the identity of the enjoyment in customization. Conceptual framework of this paper is developed by referring to the traditional research of benefits and costs of shopping. Data of 720 consumers' needs toward ustomization are collected from questionnaire survey and are analyzed by structural equation modelling. The result showed that producing customized products provided great positive effects to the enjoyment in customization. It also displayed the significance of the positive effect in possessing customized products, especially in those with customized functional values. However, co-creation of the values between customers and companies was not significant enough to draw attentions. On the other hand, the negative effects of costs such as consumption of time, physical and nervous energy are limited. Particularly, an increase in prices is even not supported as a cost element. These results are proved to be valuable for companies to implement customization strategy.

In the rapidly changing and increasingly complex society, the conventional systems of Japanese companies need to change in order to win in inter-enterprise or global competitions in the market. Especially in inter-enterprise competitions, recruiting top-class personnel may be a key point of differentiation. With such backgrounds, universities must act as an intermediary between the students as human resources and the employing companies. Therefore, universities must improve their career education so that they can educate and develop self-directed human resources who are capable of generating new values. This paper is on some characteristic extracurricular activities, supporting career development of students in a local science and technological university. In those activities the author will employ a group-approach method of career counseling, facilitating career development of the students. The effectiveness of the method and issues arose in ten-years of participant-observer studies will be presented and the modality of the future career education will be recommended.

Up to this day in the manufacturing industry we have introduced ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and made efforts for operational efficiency and cost reduction. However, regarding the computer processing in the plants, there remain many operations that require assistance from someone else and that do not add any value to the products. This is due to the insufficient coordination between the systems left behind. In this paper the contemporary problem concerning the current system coordination occurring in the manufacturing industry is abstracted and described. Referring to the system cooperation problem from an academic point of view, I examined the Global SCM (Supply Chain Management) system that has actualized completely seamless and real-time processing not only within this company, but with the overseas base and supplier as well. As the problem of system cooperation in the manufacturing industry is very profound, I focused on the Global SCM system, developed and implemented by Fujitsu Frontech Limited, as the concrete solution.

In recent years, the progress of South Korean and Chinese battery manufacturers has been particularly remarkable in the lithium-ion battery market for consumer use. On the other hand, although the market of the lithium-ion battery for automobile use is also expanded, it is still in a developing stage. Consequently, it is important to analyze the architecture promptly and to employ in a future manufacturing strategy efficiently. In this research, the product and the process architecture of the lithium-ion battery for automobile use were clarified. Based on architecture-based strategies that added the perspectives of organizational capability and the environment of capability construction to the concept of architecture, considerable researches on industries, such as the auto industry and the electronics industry, are developed. This strategic idea includes the perspectives of □analytical strategies” in strategic management. On the other hand, □process-oriented strategies” also exists in strategic management, and process-related activity is also seen in actual corporate activity. By citing the lithium-ion battery industry as an example, we reconsidered architecture-based strategies from the perspectives of strategic management. As a result, it is clear that South Korean and Chinese battery manufacturers had taken the □integrated approach” which also includes the perspectives of □process-oriented strategies”. This paper describes the result of having considered the view of integrated approach” in architecture-based strategies.

In recent years, the open innovation which utilizes the external resources broadly in a field of research, technology and product development is getting a lot of attention both academically and managerially. But, from a viewpoint of traditional differentiation strategy, an excessive dependence to the external resources is said not to contribute the firm's competitive advantage. This paper discusses the role of the information systems achieved to practice of the open innovation in the core business in Japanese firms. Therefore, we performed preliminary analysis using our original questionnaire survey data carried out in 2007 targeting manufacturing firms in Japan. As a result, we elucidated that insourcing or quasi-outsourcing is not necessarily preferred even if it is a case so that information systems may carry out an indispensable and/or important contribution to operate a core business. However, we also showed clearly that a firm positively makes an effort toward to maintain and/or improve the knowledge and skills about information systems operation in that case.

This paper identifies risks unique to such overseas situations and examines the methods for managing and handling those risks. Although more companies are incorporating business continuity plans (BCP) and crisis management into their operations since the Great East Japan Earthquake and the 2011 Thailand floods, it is also necessary to incorporate risk management into overseas expansion plans. The purpose of this paper is to study how Japanese companies should manage their businesses while considering the risk management of manufacturing overseas. I would like to divide risk management into its process and method of analysis. I try to detail a risk management plan that incorporates business continuity.

In university, lectures who have specialized knowledge, have been given their students some of their knowledge. However, students cannot understand their splendid knowledge, or are not going to understand. Lecturers and their students should develop an understanding, stimulate each other, be intellectual and mature. Therefore they should change to active leaning where students identify an issue by themselves and develop a solution.

This paper is intended as an investigation into the effectiveness of active learning. The model class was chosen the environmental management program.

First, I taught students about environmental problems around us. Secondly, I taught them how to make an environmental management program and an evaluation system. Thirdly, I let students decide on a target organization an environmental management program. Finally, I ask to them produce such a program and an evaluation system to solve the present problems.

The original nature of their programs and evaluation systems lead me to the conclusion that this method of leaning was effective. It was easy to distinguish good from poor quality work, for example, in the length and depth of submissions.

The majority of the corporate value has changed from Tangible to Intangible Assets in the 1990s. In other words, the source of corporate value has been shifting to Intangible Assets, typified by intellectual property. This means a new type of Corporate Management that improves the profitability through Intangible Assets. With the changing times, Management Assessment of IT Investment also has started a new correspondence. In research on IT Investment, it has changed the management so as to include the Non-Financial Measurement with the Conventional Financial Measurement. In addition, Valuation of IT project performance has measured by Output, Outcome and Impact.

The author, et al. propose a work re-design support system which establishes a work management method corresponding to the production of many models in small quantities and supports workplaces. We analyzed major companies’ support systems and devised a method suited for small engineering / metalworking factories from the standardized-work making processes of our support system. Concretely, this made it clear that taking advantage of the investigation method of the present work and the making methods of standardized work by major companies can support the making of standardized work in smaller companies.
