1.Problems
(1)When front windous are hardly provided, because of chair seats are arranged fore direction, fore view is almost impossible.(2)Because of chair seats for plural persons are arranged less front clear space, access from passages to each seats are not easy. (3)Because of chair seats for plural persons are arranged parolled to passages, moving persons disturb sitting persons' view. 2. Solutions
To provide a centre line passage, plural transversely branched passages, sandwiched between branched passages and arranged grouply opposite chair seats for one or two persons.

Development of a transom stern form design method is tried as a practical application of results of our studies on transom stern until now. As a result, a method is proposed. Its characteristic points are: 1) Three factors which are deeply related with stern wave resistance are selected as factors to represent transom stern form. 2) The method can treat also transom stern of such ship whose draft at out-ward voyage is different from that at home-ward voyage. Model tests to get necessary data for the method and an example of design by the method are also shown.

The authors propose that a 20feet container size electric Power Generator Unit(PGU),incorporated with a 800Kw electric generator, coupled by a diesel engine. These PGUs cover both power of propelling ship and electric service power onboard. The new plant aims at higher reliability of ship's propulsion system, having redundancy by providing plural PGUs onboard on one hand, and un-manned engine room by maintenance free onboard on the other. This paper demonstrates the above concept by adopting an expedition ocean cruise ship as a model ship.

A method suppressing numerical oscillation in pressure by particle method is suggested. The method is based on MPS(Moving Particle Semi-implicit) method. Each particle is considered as just an ALE discrete point, which has added variables calculated by auxiliary computation process. The characteristic feature is that oscillatory component of particle's motion is separated from the flow field. The effectiveness in suppressing numerical oscillation is demonstrated with simulation of a tank-sloshing problem.

During the friction stir welding (FSW), the rotational distortion may occur depending on construction conditions. When the rotational distortion arises, FSW construction will become impossible. The method with using a special binding implement or coolant is efficient to avoid the rotational distortion, but it takes high cost.We developed a new economical method to control the rotational distortion by heating both plate edges simultaneously with FSW.We calculated the rotational distortion using numerical welding simulation, and confirmed the validity of the method numerically and experimentally.

Analytical method on mode synthesis of CMS methods was dealt with. Representative six methods already published by Guyan static reduction, Craig CMS method, Benfield component mode substitution, Nagamatsu CMS technique, Castanier CC-mode and Yagawa eigenvector synthesis were reviewed and reformulated using similar matrix form. Original analytical method by CMS was derived for three dimensional beam and thin rectangular plate model. Analytical formulae of eigenvalue, transfer function and time history analysis were derived using common matrix form. Damping matrix suitable to CMS methods was introduced.

Monitoring and recording of ship operating conditions at all times on board can help estimate the seakeeping performance and its reduction. We discuss a stochastic model for the analysis and evaluation of monitoring data. The model is obtained by the analysis of wave height and ship responses measured on the actual ships, and expressed by the stochastic differential equation with three parameters. From a comparison of measured data, the validity of the model is indicated. Understanding parameters enables the evaluation and prediction of seakeeping performance. For examples, the long-term prediction and simulation of ship responses and the evaluation of ship operating condition are described.

Since the full containership has been introduced in the late 1960's for general cargo transportation. The container transport and ship size has been growing up rapidly.
This paper analyzes main features such as hull form, ship speed of containerships statistically and the feature of a container ship investigates from the viewpoint of transportation energy performance.

We consider transient free surface flows near a contact point between a body and the free surface and discuss its treatment for numerical simulation of their interactions. The Boundary Element Method is employed and we investigate whether the simulation of unsteady free surface flow due to the abraptly starting motion of a body is practically possible or not. Numerical studies on body shapes with no curvature are carried out. Introducing the modeling of jet flow near the body, we can simulate free surface flows in a wide range of Froude numbers.

In previous paper, economic and optimum of pusher barge has been studied from Kalimantan coal mines to the Java power plants. The result showed that this system is the most economical form. In present paper, authors investigated economic and environments of pusher barge from Sumatra coal mines to Java power plant. For this purpose pusher barge has been compared with the several transportation modes from economic and environmental point of view. For economic comparison required freight rate has been chosen as economic criteria and for environmental comparison life cycle assessment was applied. It has been concluded that the pusher barge has an advantage over others transportation modes.
