In the practical field of slacklining, a balance sport, instructors tell their empirical knowledge based on their personal embodied experience to beginners. The present study tries generating hypotheses from their empirical knowledge and testing it quantitatively. We conducted a preliminary experiment to examine the hypothesis. We report the results and discuss the current approach to skill science.
Several studies have reported that the meta-cognitive verbalization is effective to acquire the embodied knowledge as Tacit Knowledge in sports. On the other hand,Research issue that is left are as follows. Few studies have focused on the interaction between learner and teacher. Therefore,it is important that the interaction about the effectiveness of meta-cognitive verbalization to acquire the embodied knowledge in sports must be discussed. Purpose of this study is to build the stage model (X, Y, f, g) of the mathematical coaching process between learner and teacher by functional. Thereby,it is possible to describe the coaching process of embodied knowledge that is very difficult or impossible to explain by verbalization.
Movement of a flying object is determined by the angular velocity in addition to the initial velocity. The flying speed can measure immediately, but it is not easy to measure the angular velocity immediately. In this report, we discuss about the measurement device and the processing method for the obtaining the angular velocity immediately.
Patients of the Parkison's disease typically show motor disorders such as involuntary limb shakings, slow walking, and so on. These symptoms have been used in the medical diagnosis of the Parkinson's disease. This study explores the possibility of an easy and practical way to assess the potential risk of the Parkinson's disease based on the postural control reflected on the center-of-pressure (CoP) trajectories. We report our early attempts describing the basic CoP statistics common and difference across healthy subjects and patients.
By specifying a set of more than ten characteristic attributes related to cello playing such as "right elbow height", "vertical movement of the wrist on bow reverse action" and "the degree of left-right body trunk motion", we collect a set of data from observation of 46 cellists movies on YouTube and conduct clustering and decision tree analyses to identify a set of clusters. As a result, we succeeded in obtaining five clusters which may be useful in finding a cello playing style suited for each player.
The aim of this research is to analyze the thought process in embodied knowledge acquisition on juggling. We planned an experiment on learning 3-ball cascade. We instructed seven beginner subjects to practice 3-ball cascade of juggling over 2 weeks. We investigated the acquisition process of embodied knowledge by awareness of issue in detail using analysis of verbal reports and video data. As the result, in order to acquire embodied knowledge, it was suggested that it is important to decompose the problem and to clarify the issue they should be conscious of.
