Abstract
Ketophenylbutazone (KETAZON) known as a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug, has been administered in diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout and others.
The anti-inflammatory effects of the Ketophenylbutazone in laryngeal diseases were tested by us in 35 patients. The drug was given by mouth, 600mg/day for adults and 300 mg/day for children.
The effects in 20 patients with acute and chronic laryngitis were as remarkable as those reported in some studies.
In 15 patients who were subjected to laryngomicrosurgery, the drug was given after surgery for 2-4 weeks and satisfactory responses were obtained.
Another advantage of this drug was that no side effect was observed in any of the 35 cases even with long term usage.
Ketophenylbutazone appears to be an effective drugs in the patient with laryngeal inflammation after laryngomicrosurgery.
