Abstract

In October 2020, the Government of Japan declared that it would "realize carbon neutrality in 2050." In December, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced specific CO2 reduction targets and roadmaps. In April 2021, other countries also announced their own CO2 reduction plans at the Leaders Summit on Climate hosted by the United States. The CO2 reduction plans of each country have different formats and are difficult to compare. This paper has been organized to compare the plans of each country.

Next, the situation surrounding energy in each country was organized and compared by item. Through this process, the issues of Japan's carbon neutral policy were extracted and analyzed. Finally, a simulation of electricity costs in 2030 was conducted.

Key word: Decarbonization, CO2 reduction, Energy policy, Energy security
