Abstract
This study compared the frequency of intensifying adverbs and their collocating adjectives between English learners and native speakers using the NICER 1.3.2 corpus. Focusing on the high-frequency use of “very” in the learner data, the analysis examined the tendencies of its collocating adjectives. It also compared the usage patterns of “very” to those of “really” to analyze the differences between learners and native speakers.
