This paper presents a single-phase current source inverter with step-down chopper. The chopper circuit is connected to the inverter leg and its operation contributes to get a sinusoidal output current. This inverter is applied to the utility interactive photovoltaic generation system. The experimental result proves that the proposed inverter has the smooth dc current and the sinusoidal current under the small value of the dc reactor.
