We have installed a wireless LAN system of the accelerator control network into the accelerator tunnel for SuperKEKB, which is the upgrade plan of the KEKB B-factory project. The wireless LAN system is used for the construction and maintenance of the accelerator components. The leaky coaxial cable (LCX) antennas are installed into the arc sections of SuperKEKB tunnel, and the collinear antennas are installed into the straight sections and the injector Linac. We have selected the LCX and collinear antennas with good radiation hardness of more than 1 MGy. After the installation, we evaluated the wireless LAN system and obtained the good network speed performance in the whole tunnel area.

Modern accelerators require the microwave technology. Especially electron linear accelerators need the powerful microwave sources. In this paper, S-band pulsed klystron developments are reviewed along with the development history of linear accelerator. In this history, Stanford University and SLAC (Stanford Linear Accelerator Center) played an important role to improve the klystron technology. Reviews from klystron used in Mark-III linac in Stanford University to klystron for SLC are made. Then, klystron developments performed in Japan are described. Mainly this was conducted with many projects in KEK. This article is written the first one of the three series, and the continued reports will be shown in next volume.

Since accelerators are constructed with the latest technology, their specifications are frequently upgraded. Many kinds of cables such as high current power cables and low noise signal cables are used in the accelerator systems under special restrictions. The power cables for magnets are significant as most of them feed high current with low voltage.Sometimes they are massive because transmitting large kilo amperes requires many large cross section cables aligned parallel. These cables run through radiation shielding walls which could cause heat problems. In this paper, the author will mainly describe custom-made cables used in some accelerator facilities.

The 8th International Accelerator School for Linear Colliders was held from 4th to 15th December 2013 in Antalya, Turkey. 52 students from around the world attended the school to study the related topics. The school covers from the physics motivation of the linear colliders to the detail of the sub-system of accelerators. There were 6 hours lecture every day followed by a night session. The night session continued sometimes until the mid-night, depending on the student’s curiosity and lecturer’s strength. Antalya is the famous resort in Europa and also an ideal location for the school. The students could concentrate on their study without any stresses because of the excellent hospitality of the local organizer and local business staffs. The school must be an irreplaceable experience to all students not only to study various subjects of the accelerator sciences, but also to make good friends. This is only a friendship at this moment, but it could be a connection on the scientific researches, jobs, and projects. This is the real purpose of the school and this is being achieved. Now, we can see many graduates are active in various fields.

This short report introduces the Asian Forum for Accelerators and Detectors (AFAD) annually organized by the Asian Committee for Future Accelerators(ACFA). After briefly outlining its history, we report on the 5th AFAD that took place at the Australian Synchrotron, Melbourne, in January 2014 with more than 100 participants. It is desired that the AFAD plays an significant role for a closer cooperation among Asian countries.
