In the practice of palliative care, team medical care involving cooperation among multiple professions is important. Active participation in palliative care and team medical care is required even during practical training. In this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey of 28 pharmacy students who completed practical training at Kyorin University Hospital to investigate the effect of palliative care team training on their understanding of palliative care and palliative care teams and their awareness of medical narcotics. After the training, the level of understanding significantly increased in all items related to palliative care and palliative care teams. In particular, the level of understanding of the roles of pharmacists, doctors, and nurses in the palliative care team was low before the training, but improved after the training. In addition, the percentage of students who were afraid of the word "narcotics" significantly decreased after the training. It was suggested that by experiencing situations in which the palliative care team involves multiple professions in intervention with various patients, students will be able to deepen their understanding of the knowledge necessary for the practice of team medical care, such as the roles and cooperation of multiple professions, in addition to knowledge of palliative care and medical narcotics.

Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT)in the neonatal period is often caused by Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, and persistent tachycardia attacks may lead to heart failure. We observed two cases in which flecainide was used for neonatal-onset PSVT without underlying heart disease at our hospital. Case 1 developed PSVT at day 0 and was administered a β-blocker to prevent attacks, however, the tachycardia persisted . Concomitant administration of flecainide resulted in the cessation of attacks. Case 2 developed PSVT at day 22 and was administered flecainide due to repeated tachycardia attacks. The dose of flecainide was gradually increased, however, the tachycardia attacks persisted. The tachycardia attacks decreased when the administration time was adjusted to 60 minutes after breastfeeding. Flecainide absorption from the digestive tract can be suppressed by breast milk and dairy products, reducing its blood levels. Therefore, it is essential to provide guidance on the timing of flecainide administration in relation to feeding.
