In the solution-focused approach, the effort is concentrated on the solution talk about the state without the problems. In this report, we applied the solution-focused approach to the woman with premenstrual syndrome, whose lower abdominal pain had been severe. (Case) A 30-year-old nulliparous woman had been treated in several hospitals as endometriosis or vegetative dystonia. Although gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist was used to treat "endometriosis", no effect was found. Treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs had also failed. Then we focused on the expected state after solution and those have already been worked out, in which "scaling question" and "miracle question" techniques were found to be very useful. After the treatment, she needs only small amount of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in premenstrual period. Premenstrual severe pain was remarkably recovered. Solution-focused approach is the method to facilitate patient's participation in the treatment process and it makes the patient's motivation stronger. It may be an useful technique in psychosomatic obstetrics and gynecology.

The aim of this study was to explore psychosocial aspects of women and marital relationship and child-rearing at 2 years after childbirth. A quantitative longitudinal design was considered, using Maternal Concerns Questionnaire (MCQ-21 items) to delineate perceptions on feelings of marital relationship, child-rearing, the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-30) and other related questions. In this paper we intend to present the results from data collected from 158 women (effective respondents 142). Results indicated that, about half of the participants expressed satisfaction with marital relationship and feeling of fullness to present life. Well over half of women reported getting support from husband (64%), but quality of support was questionable and husband's abuse on wife increased (perhaps under-reported) , resulting in child abuse by the mother. The correlation between the satisfaction of marital relationship and MCQ, GHQ was significant (p<0.001) showing impact of life satisfaction on health. From the preliminary analysis, it may be concluded that satisfaction of marital relationship related to feeling of fullness in life, support of husband and violence of husband (p< 0.001) may be indication of ambivalence in women. The results also suggested satisfaction of marital relationship closely related to psychosomatic health conditions.
