A windows software, GSS Generator, was developed to generate generalized spiral sets that are the sets of points with uniform distribution on the unit sphere. The software can save the spherical and Cartesian coordinates of the points in text files. A viewer is also implemented to see their distribution on a hemisphere by equal-area projection, and one can save the image as a bitmap file or an enhanced metafile.

We have developed a software to convert orientation data for fault-striation analysis. The software specializes in dealing with the strike and dip of the format, e.g., N30E50E, that is common among Japanese geologists. Each fault data consist of the strike and dip of fault plane, orientation of striation, and sense of shear. If the orientation of striation is measured by its azimuth and plunge, the measurement error often shifts the orientation from the fault plane. In that case, the software calculate the angular misfit between the orientation from the fault plane. The result can be saved as a text file for later use. The software is useful not only for fault analysis but also other purposes, such as paleo-current analysis.
