In the muscle of artificial rachitic animals, particularly of malnutritive rachitic animals, an injection of vitamin D_2 caused an increase in the potassium, phosphorous, and calcium content, decrease in sodium, and a marked decrease in the iron and copper content. On the other hand, the phosphorus and calcium content in the kidney of the malnutritive rachitic animals was decreased by the vitamin D_2 injection without exception, contrasting with the result in the muscle. All of other minerals, that is, sodium, potassium, iron, and copper were decreased by the vitamin D_2 injection.
