Abstract
The goal of this study is to clarify what students are thinking about while they are learning in music classes. To have a consciousness of the teaching aim means students are conscious of what teachers intend to teach in classes. This survey found out how much students are conscious of the teaching aim in music classes. Furthermore, through the analysis of some music classes, the factors that students learn with this consciousness are verified. The result shows following 5 factors that students learn with consciousness of the teaching aim: students have this consciousness when 1) teachers' instructions are given just before the activities, 2) teachers give elaborate explanation for the activities, 3) students will do unexpected activities, 4) teachers give various information before the activities, and 5) students listen to music with visual information.
