This is a report of the result of a questionnaire in 2009 March, to Japanese municipal governments, asking the situation of estimation of future municipal public service costs. Reduction of these costs by intensification of urban structure is considered important under our population decrease situation. The result reveals, not only whether they made any estimation, but whether in their estimation projected influence of service demand structure reflecting population and family composition change, or of transitions or transformation of urban structure.
