Abstract

In recent years, urban agglomeration has been progressing in the areas surrounding train stations in southern Shiga Prefecture, but the actual situation varies with each city's urban formation and urban structure. This study will clarify the relationship between the location characteristics of commercial, medical welfare, and public facilities and the urban structure and urban planning in walking areas around JR stations in Yasu and Moriyama, Shiga Prefecture. The analysis of facility locations within a 1km radius shows a decrease in the number of facilities in the retail sector, but an increase in the number of facilities in the service and welfare sectors. In addition, there were some areas where urban development is progressing according to urban planning such as district planning. Analysis of the area within and outside the 1km radius shows that facilities are concentrated around the station in Yasu, which has a narrow urbanized area, while facilities are not concentrated around the station in Moriyama, which has developed around an arterial road. This suggests that urban structure and urban formation influence the location of facilities.
