Abstract

Shizuoka Prefecture has been damaged by large tsunamis historically and today is taking a variety of measures to reduce the damages of tsunami caused by Nankai megathrust earthquakes in near future. The purpose of this study is to analyze issues and usability of Minato Inochiyama which has been constructed as a new Tsunami Evacuation facility at Fukuroi City in 2013. The study also presents peoples awareness of local residents. The study shows that they do not feel secure about Inochiyama as a tsunami evacuation facility. Also, it does not function as a community space of local residents enough. On the other hand, the study concludes that Minato Inochiyama could be a symbolic evacuation facility used in various ways according to the situation.
