Abstract
Bio-diesel fuel (BDF) production results in by-production of glycerol in amount of approximately 10 wt% of initial triacylglycerol. Because of rapid increase of BDF production, technological development for effective utilization of the raw glycerol has been developed. In this review, we overview recent research topics for syntheses of glycerol derivatives from the raw glycerol, and applications to functional chemical products of the glycerol derivatives are also introduced.
