Abstract
A shave-joining method with induction system for heating the hole of the base-material is successfully developed for realization of the high productivity. Moreover, influencing factors of the shear strength of the shave-joint are experimentally investigated for joining of the disc of 2-5 mm thickness which are made of such different materials as medium carbon steel (S45C) and silicon nitride ceramics (Si3N4), with the cylinder with inner diameter of about 20 mm which are made of such base materials as aluminum (A1050), aluminum alloy (A5056) and mild steel (STKM13). The shear strength of the shave-joint increases uniformly with increasing induction-heating time or temperature until transformation and melting of the materials, and with increasing shaving depth up to 1.0 mm. The value obtained by the simple shave-joining is over a quater of the shear resistance of the base material and also remarkably improved by repeating the joinned parts for the similar metals.
