In recent years, the increase in the number of vacant houses has become a problem in the field of urban planning. However, there is a lack of measures based on “psychological strategies” induced by psychological factors to promote behavioural changes. This study identifies the factors that increase the interest and enhance the behaviour of detached house owners toward the future of their homes and proposes psychological strategies based on them. We found that “life events of children” and “home acquisition” were identified as catalysts for the rise in the owners’ interest in the future of their homes and the inclination to take action. Furthermore, we found that more owners tended to remain only interested in the future of their homes compared to those who took action due to “life events of children”. This study also determines the method for providing information at the time of housing acquisition and marriage registration based on the results of the analysis.
