Silica based mesoporous materials, such as SiO₂-TiO₂ and SiO₂-Al₂O₃, have attracted increasing attention because of their remarkable acidic and adsorption properties. In this review, we report sol-gel synthesis of mesoporous SiO₂ composite which has homogeneous network, such as Si-O-Ti, using metal alkoxides as source. In addition, spherical mesoporous SiO₂ and SiO₂-TiO₂ particles were synthesized by sol-gel method using W/O emulsion under microwave irradiation.
