Abstract
Hitherto very little attention has been given to the smaller foraminifera from the Japanese Miocene., The Neogene deposits extensively developed in and around Sendai are mostly sandy and tuffaceous in general, and fossil foraminifera are not rich., Assist., Prof., S., HANZAWA lately reported on the occurrence of Lepidocylina in the Moniwa shell beds exposed near Akaisi and confirmed the Lower Miocene age of the deposits which is almost basal to the Neogene formation of the district., Smaller foraminifera also occur in this shell bed, though not quite rich., Those discriminated among the material are, Lenticulina rotula LAMARCK (?), Polymorphina yabei nov., Dentalina soluta REUSS, Robulus miyagiensis nov., Lenticulina moniwaensis nov., L., sp., Marginulina sendaiensis nov., Guttulina sp., Dentalina sp., New species are rather numerous and these are briefly described below.,
