Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the historical sides of Sakai Old Port and the landscape characteristics, and to consider ways to create a new urban landscape.The Old Sakai Port has repeated prosperity and decline, and its unique bay shape has been handed down to the modern. And they has been established as a historical resource.
Based on the composition of the water surface and the artificial objects, the landscape characteristics are classified into Type I (landscape where the artificial objects cover the water surface from one side), Type II (landscape where the artificial objects appear in a band in the center), Type III (landscape where the artificial objects appear mainly), and Type IV (landscape where the water surface is not reflected).
