Abstract

This study aims to clarify the function and the role of WWF as an intermediary for community based coral reef conservation. We clarified three points of follows as a policy to balance community improvement with coral reef conservation.
1)WWF enlarged opportunities of cooperation with community by interpreting coral reef conservation as not only the protection of natural environments and the creature but also the succession of coral reef culture.
2)An action to raise sense of ownership and sense of efficacy led community to red soil prevention.
3)WWF relate coral reef conservation to the occupation and built the structure which economic incentive acts on.
When immigrant collaborates with local community, the method of WWF is regarded as useful knowledge.
